Johnny, you were a wonderful host dad to me and heaps of other young people that came to work and live on your farm and have the privilege of being part of the Kelly family for a summer. Thank you for the wonderful memories. My thoughts are with Betty, Paul, Phil, Pat, Bobby, Susan and Mac. - Jennilyn Mann IAEA 1978

It is with deep sadness that I express my condolences for your families loss. I write this on behalf of a Hockey player and hockey administator in Alberta. I played in the league that John was president of for so many years and knew of him then. After university I settled into a career in Hockey Administration with Hockey Alberta and had the chance to work with John on the administration of his league. I still have a very soft spot for hockey in the North East, and John was a huge part of that hockey in that area. I was able to see from the provincial level how much John meant to Hockey overall, and to that region. Few people attain "legendary" status, and John was able to accomplish that with administrators, volunteers, and players. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Rob Litwinski General Manager - Hockey Alberta & St. Paul Jr. B Canadiens - early 90's

"Sui Generis" - One of a Kind. That was John. Everything John did, he did passionately and whole-heartedly. This unabated energy was infectious to all the people he in contact with and is the source of all the wonderful experiences and memeories we have of him. Uncle John will be dearly missed, but always fondly remembered. Your nephew Scott.

I am going to miss JD. No one else challenged my conservatism more than him. The debates were fun. And who is going to get my coffee to the combine now?
