Obituary of Norma Eger
Obituary – Norma Jean Eger
March 5, 1943 – April 14, 2021
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the recent passing of Norma after her long journey with cancer, at the age of 78 years.
Born in Maidstone, SK to Raymond and Gladys Stenmark, and raised North of The Gully in the Milleton District, Norma was a feisty Swede with a beautiful heart!
She learned the value of hard work and service to others at a young age, which served her well throughout her lifetime.
In 1962 she married a young hockey player from Invermay, SK, Don Eger. They raised their family (Kevin and Shelley) in Maidstone, the Village of Marshall, and at many ballparks and arenas throughout the area. Norma was the backbone, the supporter, the driver, and definitely the chief cook and sock washer!
Norma’s friendly nature and compassion for people were undeniable. She built community and friendships wherever she landed. She worked all of her life, and loved her work – mainly because of the people with whom she connected. She gave years of service to the Village of Marshall, and then 20 passionate years at the Lloydminster Hospital Foundation Gift Shop. For many people, Norma was the gift shop! In her retirement she landed perfectly at The Country Store, a hub of wonderful people and local history. She was so thankful to have a wide swath of friends in her wheel of life.
Norma loved coffee with friends, casino trips, and all of her family – a lot! She was so proud of her 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was a very cool mom, grandma, and great grandma (GG).
Norma was grit. She was grace. She was kind to her core. She was perfectly imperfect – just like the rest of us. May her memory live forever.
Norma was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond and Gladys; her husband, Don; and her sister, Isla.
Norma is survived by her loving family: son, Kevin (Shannon); daughter, Shelley (Bob); grandchildren, Kyla (Shawn), Kelsey (Brett), Brendan and Madyson; and her three beautiful great-grandchildren, Cash, Mya, and Macy Jean; as well as numerous other relatives.
Due to the current restrictions, our family is privately celebrating Norma’s life.
In honor of Norma, our family asks that you do something nice for someone else, unexpectedly, and without explanation.
We extend our special thanks for their compassionate care to Dr. Kerlis, the doctors and team at the Lloydminster Hospital, and Dr. Bosch and Dr. Wright at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.
