EFLAMAN: Alice (Edna) nee Bamford
The family of Edna Flaman are saddened by their loss January 3, 2007 at the Maidstone Hospital.
She is lovingly remembered by: her daughters Darleen (Frank) Schneider of Paradise Valley, Dale Flaman (Marshal Unguran) of Fraser Lake, BC and Glenda (Dale) Robins of Lethbridge, AB; her two sisters: Nellie Martin of Ponoka, AB and Lillian Thompson of Salmon Arm, BC; also eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John, her son Murray, one great grandson Bradley Deal, her parents William and Jane Bamford, two brothers Harry and George Bamford, one sister Marge Hickson and two nephews.
The service was held at the Maidstone United Church at 2:00 P.M. on January 8, 2007 officiated by Reverend E. Kasper. Interment followed at the Maidstone Cemetery followed by tea at the Senior Drop-in Centre.
Edna was the third daughter born to William and Jane Bamford on November 30, 1923 in Maidstone. She grew up on the farm east and south of Maidstone in the Birling School District. There she went to school and helped her dad and mother on the farm. She married John Flaman and they remained on the farm until 1953. There she did housework and worked at the Korner Café and Star Café until the Pine Island Lodge opened. She first worked on the floor taking care of the guests, later working in the kitchen. She worked at the Pine Island Lodge for seventeen years at which time she retired. She enjoyed her work there making friends and visiting the guests of which many she had known while growing up. She became an active member of the Senior Group, volunteering her time and enjoying all the many activities. She was very proud of her medals she won shooting pool
Edna enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They would go to the lake and go camping together or stay at Grandmas house. The stay would include learning to bake or eating fresh berries and vegetables from the garden. Grandpa and Grandma spend many hours watching their great grandchildren play hockey and baseball.
Even though her family has spread across Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia and couldnt visit as often as they would have liked, they would always phone and have a chat with grandma. She will be greatly missed by all.
