Obituary of Mary Block

BLOCK ~ Mary May Block passed away peacefully in the Dr. Cooke Extended Care, Lloydminster on Thursday, October 27, 2011 - 23 days away from celebrating her 90th birthday. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bud on June 18, 2011 and her brother and his wife Bill and Margaret Brassington. The funeral service was conducted from the Paradise Valley Community Hall, Paradise Valley, Alberta on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. The interment was held in the Paradise Valley Cemetery. On behalf of Mary, we would like to thank the following: Reverend Canon Michael Stonhouse for officiating such a lovely service, Sandra Babcock for her accompaniment for the hymns - All Things Bright & Beautiful, Beautiful Isle of Somewhere and Whispering Hope, David Babcock for leading the singing. To the honorary pallbearers: Velma Henry, Emily Welsh, Rachael McLean, Mildred Lever, Ardis Dobson and Florence Bleakley. The active pallbearers: Paul and Judy Harrison, Marcel & Barb Viel, Clifford Vert, Greg Nordquist, Maureen Davidson and Dwaine Bleakley. Thanks to Merle Burlet for helping with the initial arrangements, to Judy Harrison for delivering the tribute to Mary as composed by Paul Harrison and Barb Viel, to the United Church Ladies for the delicious lunch, to McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta for administering the funeral arrangements. Mary leaves behind many to cherish her memory, Bud's family, Bill and Margaret's family and of course all of her many friends. Mary was a good neighbor and a genuine friend. She touched so many lives and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. We all have our special memories of Mary and may we be comforted by remembering the special times.
