As well as nieces and nephews Reid & Mary Moir; Ross & Verna Moir; Linda Wood & Norval Christie; Gary & Barb Moir, Pam & Sid Kenyon; cousin Jean Winters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Reid was predeceased by his parents John & Maude McDougall, sister Kaye & Reg Moire and long time friend Harry Deans. Reid attended Burke School and later years obtained his grade 11 GED. In the early 40's Reid farmed with his dad. He went to BC to work in the nickel mines, but returned to the farm, as farming was his passion. Reid's dad retired and Reid farmed the land for 60+ years. He married Frances Oddan in 1948 and they spent almost 60 wonderful years together. Reid loved the land and was always campaigning for the rights of landowners. Reid was instrumental in getting the rural power and upgrading the rural telephone system. He worked diligently with the Sask Wheat Pool, Wilton Co-Op, Marshall Credit Union, NationAL Farmers Union, Marshall Community Hall, Sask Arbitration Board, Sask Surface Rights Committee and the NDP. As a member, he did these jobs adeptly and modestly, never wanting recognition for his work. In 1960, prior to Medicare, Reid and other community members had a long term vision for the public and formed the Lloydminster & District Co-Operative Health Services Clinic, owned by members for their needs. Forty-eight years later, their vision remains in place. As a father, Reid was loving and caring, always was there to lend a helping hand to his family or to strangers. He loved trips to the lakes, fishing and teaching about life and nature. The subjects could vary from birds and animals to plants and astrology. No matter how curious a question, he seemed to be able to provide satisfactory answers. Protecting the environment was always foremost in his life. Reid, Frances and family camped at many northern lakes and enjoyed the cabin at Brightsand Lake where he served for many years on the Park Board as Cabin Owners Representative. He loved sports and was involved in all sports and attended his children's and grandchildren's 4-H and sporting events. Fishing, hunting and trapping were his hobbies. He loved watching Hockey Night in Canada and attending auction sales, as well as working in his shop repairing machinery and fabricating parts to make them better than they were originally. He was a jack of all trades, fixer of everything mechanical, and could handle almost every veterinary emergency that arose. The Lloyd Fish and Game Association received a gift from Reid and Frances as they donated the Jack McDougall Trout Pond on Highway 16 east of the city for everyone to use and enjoy. His life was full and active with his large family and community interests. He spent his whole life living on the beautiful gully and the land he loved. In words from Terry Crush's eulogy: "I Found my friend Reid set in his beliefs, very conservative in his morals and ideas, but always very, very social in his actions. A rancher and mutual friend of Reid's and mine, described Reid as 'a true Saskatchewan citizen.' Thank you our good and faithful servant Reid. Well done sir."
