Leachman: Mrs. Phoebe Jane Leachman of Maidstone, SK passed away in the Pine Island Lodge on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the age of 97 years. Shew as born in Bay de Verde, NFLD on August 2, 1910 to James and Lillian Emberley. Phoebe was in England during World War II and worked on Lancaster and Sterlin bombers. On April 7, 1952 she married Joel Leachman. They farmed in the Maidstone District moving into Maidstone in 1964. Phoebe worked in the post office for eight years retiring December 29, 1973. Phoebe was active in the church ACW and Legion Auxiliary. She leaves to mourn: one son Berry and Judy Leachman of Lloydminster, SK; two granddaughters Chelsea and Amber Leachman; two brothers: Charlie and Froni Emberley of Mount Pearl, NFLD, Corbet and Doris Emberley of Hamilton, ON; one sister Deborah and Harry Eady of St. John's, NFLD. Funeral services were conducted from St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Maidstone on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with the Reverend Peter Yeung officiating. Pallbearers were: William Stoughton, David Wesson, Gary Robb, Buddy Leachman, William Foster and Ronald Foster. Interment followed in the Maidstone Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were administered by McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster. Card of Thanks Thank you to the staff of the Pine Island Lodge/Hospital for the care they have given Mom over the last five years. A special thank you to Mom's friends for being so good to her. Thank you to Peter Yeung for the church service, Marilyn Owens for playing the organ and to the choir. Thanks you to the Legion Auxiliary and the ACW for the lunch after. Berry, Judy, Chelsea and Amber Leachman Donations in memory of Phoebe may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a Charity of the Donor's Choice.
