Obituary of John Johnson

Johnson: John Henry Johnson passed away peacefully at The Lloydminster Hospital on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the age of 77 years. The Visitation Service for John was conducted from The McCaw Funeral Chapel, Lloydminster, Alberta on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. The funeral service for John was conducted from the Manitou Evangelical Free Church, Neilburg, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 with Pastor Vern Quewezance officiating The Eulogy was read by Harry and Betty Gibbard. The Soloist was John's Granddaughter, Yvonne St. Germaine who sang "On My Way to Heaven." Congregational hymns were "It is Well with My Soul" and "Because He Lives," accompanied on the organ by Hazel Wiens. Honorary Pallbearers were All Those Who Knew and Loved John. Active Pallbearers were Chris Johnson, Shawn Johnson, Tyler Friedel, Jason Rindfleisch, Dondrae Harper, Jordan St. Germaine, Phillip St. Germaine and D.J. Graham. Ushers were Donald Patterson and Bob Walde. Interment was held at The Wycollar Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Eulogy Mr. John Johnson was born in Lashburn, Saskatchewan on August 24, 1931. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Johnson. John is one of 10 children~ having four brothers: Tom, Jim, Ralph and Bobby as well as five sisters: Margaret, Mary, Jean, Mabel and Ruth. Mabel, Ralph and Ruth are the three remaining living children. John attended his first years of school in Marsden and then Cliffe School in the fall of 1942. He attended High School at Prairie Bible Institute, later returning home to help his Dad on the farm. John is survived by his wife Luella, with whom he shared 56 precious years. They were blessed with six children, two daughters-in-law and two sons-in-law, Darlene & John, Sharon & Blair, Roy & Joyce, Elaine, Marvin, Robert & Connie. Elaine and Marvin previously went to be with their Savior and were waiting to welcome their Dad Home! As well, John has seven Grandchildren, ten Great Grandchildren, two Great Great Grandchildren. John and Luella moved to Lloydminster in 1956. John chose a career as a mechanic and worked at RJR Noyes for thirty years, retiring in 1991. Together they enjoyed 24 years at their cabin at Perch Lake, Saskatchewan ~ camping, boating, fishing and having get-togethers with family and friends. John was involved many years with the Manitou Evangelical Church and the Manitou Bible Camp before moving to Lloydminster. He attended the First Baptist Church in Lloydminster. There he was involved as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. He also taught the "Boys Brigade." All John's sons played hockey and he was always there to support them. John was recognized by the community for his involvement and was given an honor as "Manager of the Year." These are just some of the highlights in John Johnson' life. He was an incredible man. He loved the Lord, his family and was a true friend. Many hours were spent in prayer for each and every one of them. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of the Saints." His Children honour him in the following verse: You gave us life and watched us grow You taught us things we needed to know You taught us what was right from wrong You gave us strength to be strong.
