Mary "Waneta" Isted of Turtleford, SK passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the age of 90 years.
Waneta was born on June 08, 1918 in Outlook, Montana to Joseph and Myrtle Steigelman. On April 14, 1945 she married Ralph Isted. They resided, for a short time, in the area and then made many moves throughout their married life to various places in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario; Ralph working as a Federal Buildings Inspector and Waneta working for the Singer Company of Canada. They had no children.
Following her husband's death in 1973 she moved to Turtleford where her mother, brother and other family resided. For the past 36 years "Aunt" Waneta has been an integral member of her niece's family. She will be missed by her great-niece, Shanna Beisel (Gordon), her great-nephew Zane Lundell (Anita) and their father Julian (Margot) Lundell. She also leaves to mourn her passing her niece Rena Black (Charlie) of Lloydminster and cousins in British Columbia, Hazel (Tom) McBrine, Lewis Hewlett and June Askew. Cousin Lenore West of Montana as well as additional cousins in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Wyoming. She was predeceased by her mother and father, her brother John, his wife Jean, their daughter Norma and her brother Robert, all of the Turtleford Area.
The interment was held at the Mervin Cemetery followed by a Memorial Talk given by Gordon Emilson at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Mervin on Saturday, February 28, 2009.
McCaw Funeral Services of Lloydminster and Turtleford looked after the arrangements.
Waneta will be remembered by many in this area for her work as manager of the Leeds Fashion Fabrics in Lloydminster and for her strong love and conviction helping others to come to know about Jehovah God.
