WILSON ~ Warren “Stuke” Henry Wilson passed away peacefully at the Lloydminster Hospital, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Monday, June 22, 2009 at the age of 76 years. Stuke will be sadly missed by his wife Shirley; his children: Lori & Barry Woods of Penticton, B.C., Ken & Janice Wilson of Edmonton, AB, Doug & Jacquie Wilson of Lloydminster, AB, Ian & Darlene Wilson of Lacombe, AB, Allison & Barry Moore of Edmonton, AB; nine grandchildren as well as one sister Sheila McKeage of Portland, ON. Warren was born on February 12, 1933 to Henry and Molly Wilson in Smoky Lake, Alberta. At age 11, the family relocated to a farm near Waskateneau. Following schooling at Clodford and Waskateneau, in 1953, he left for Regina to join the RCMP. It was during training that he acquired the name “Stuke” which lasted a lifetime. He was stationed at several small detachments in southern Saskatchewan. In 1958, he and Shirley were married. They resided in several communities including: Moose Jaw, Carlyle, Loon Lake, Big River, Humboldt and retired in North Battleford in 1977. The family relocated to Lloydminster where he worked with Meridian Farm Equipment, and was a realtor at Musgrave Agencies. In 1985, he was assigned the contract for the Alberta Motor Vehicle Office which later became W.H. Wilson Registries Ltd. Over the past 32 years, he served in numerous volunteer capacities in Lloydminster including the Summer and Winter Games, United Church, Kiwanis and chairman of the Slim Thorpe Center to mention a few. He retired from Wilson Registries on January 30, 2007. During the last several years, the cottage at Perch Lake served as a year round gathering place for family, friends and beloved grandchildren. Stuke enjoyed nothing better that a cruise around the lake on his pontoon boat. The funeral service was conducted from Lloydminster Gospel Fellowship, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Harold Martin officiating. The eulogy was given by Bill Musgrave. The soloist was Darlene Wilson singing “Amazing Grace: My Chains Are Gone” & “Give Me Jesus”. The Hymns sung were “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee” and “The Lord’s My Shepherd” accompanied on the organ by Irene Knowlson. The recessional was “Abide With Me” and a musical selection “Going Home” was played at the cemetery both selections played by Bill Cornfoot on the bagpipes. The Grace United Church Choir was in attendance singing “In The Bulb There Is A Flower”. Active pallbearers were Doug Wilson, Ian Wilson, Ken Wilson, Barry Woods, Grant Talbot and Barry Moore. Interment was held at the Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. OUR THANKS A special thank you to the staff of the Lloydminster Hospital, the Home Care nurses, Chemotherapy Unit, and Lue Petruk (Cancer Patient Navigator) for their compassionate care and concern. Thank you to Dr. C. Chan for his support and caring. To our wonderful friends and neighbors who so generously brought food, flowers, cards and offered such great support through phone calls, e-mails, visits and hugs; our family thanks you. Many thanks to the Lloydminster Gospel Fellowship Church for the use of their facility and to the ladies for providing a delicious lunch. Our thanks to Dale and Dave McCaw and their staff who make this difficult time so much easier. Heartfelt thanks to Reverend Harold Martin for conducting such a meaningful service. Thanks to Bill Musgrave for giving the eulogy and Darlene Wilson, Irene Knowlson and the United Church Choir for the lovely music.
