Obituary of Dwayne Trottier

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dwayne Trottier, Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 54 years.

Dwayne Trottier was born on August 1, 1971 to Rose Chief and Thomas Trottier in St. Paul, Alberta.  For the first part of his life, he lived with his parents until his mom passed away in 1972.  Dwayne grew up in foster care, but eventually ventured off on his own after he graduated from high school.  Dwayne was multi-talented athlete.  He attended Vermillion College and played competitive volleyball, which was one of his passions in life, playing soccer was his second.  Dwayne competed in local soccer and volleyball tournaments, until his arthritis made it difficult for him to continue.

If you knew Dwayne, you knew he loved to joke around, sing, dance, write music, poems, including a First Nation version of “Twas the night before Christmas”.  He was talented, intelligent, kind-hearted, strong and resilient.  He suffered a lot of hardship and trauma as a child, and it was a life-long struggle for him to see beyond his pain and masked much of it through his addiction.

Above all, Dwayne had four beautiful children. A handsome young man who is as talented as him, Joshua Cross and three Beautiful daughters, Kiona Moosomin, Kayla Waskewitch and Nicole Frenchman who are as intelligent and creative as he was.  He spent some time throughout his life when he could to be a part of their lives.  His children meant a lot to him.

Dwayne will be dearly missed and never forgotten by his nieces, nephews, friends and family
