Jean Olive McColl passed away at Maidstone Health Complex, Maidstone, Saskatchewan on February 19, 2024 at the age of 97 years.

Jean is predeceased by: her husband, Gordon; parents Albert and Olive Huxley; and four brothers and five sisters.

As per Jean's wishes, no service will be held at this time.

Jean will be remembered, she enjoyed her role working at Saskatchewan Power Corporation for 35 years as Payroll Supervisor. She experienced a long, full and healthy life. Jean took her education at Tebo Corner School from grade 1 to 10. At that time they travelled to school in a two wheeled cart in the summer and a sleigh in the winter, pulled by the same horse all that time. She talked about she and lky not missing a day of school for a whole year, so they each received a new pencil for attendance. Jean moved to Maidstone to take grade 11. After passing grade 11, she and Irene went to Chilliwack to work on the military base during the war years. After returning home Jean took a business course in Prince Albert and worked at the land titles office. Mr. Dieffenbaker was a lawyer at the land titles office at the time. Based on Mr. Dieffenbaker's encouragement she applied for a job with the newly formed Saskatchewan Power in Regina. Where she retired after 35 years as Payroll Supervisor.

Jean travelled extensively in the world with her husband Gordon. She continued to travel with family and friends after her return to Maidstone in 1985. Jean had moved back to Maidstone to be with her Dad. She and Cynthia Donald drove to Santa Maria, California for several winters. Jean also drove her sister, Irma, to White Rock, BC many times to visit family.

Jean very much enjoyed the outdoors. She stayed active in Maidstone looking after a large yard, walking, golfing and bowling into her nineties. Jean was an avid sports fan, cheering enthusiastically for the Blue Jays and Rough Riders.

Donations in memory of Jean may be made to Pine Island Lodge or Maidstone Bowling Alley.

The McColl and Huxley family would like to thank all those who cared for Jean and to those at Pine Island Lodge in Maidstone.
