Obituary of Amel Twarzinski
Amel John Twarzinski passed away at Pine Island Lodge, Maidstone, Saskatchewan on January 12, 2024 at the age of 86 years.
Amel was born at Lanigan, SK to Florian and Benedicta Twarzynski. He was raised on the farm until he completed his Grade 11 in 1954. At the age of 18, he worked at numerous saw mills in the Nipawin area for the winters and construction in the summers in Alberta and B.C. He came back to the sawmills in the winter of 1959, where he met and married Helen Glowa on January 29, 1959. Together they raised three children, Bill, Donna and Brenda.
Amel worked for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool from 1959-1978 at Henribourg, Struan, Paddockwood, Garrick and Choiceland. He resigned from the Pod in 1978. He also farmed at Choiceland from 1967-2005. Amel started working at Pineland Co-op in Choiceland in the fall of 1978. He worked there for 40 years til his retirement on August 22, 2018. Due to declining health, he moved to Lashburn in 2022 to be closer to family. In February of 2023, he moved to Pine Island Lodge in Maidstone until his death on January 12, 2024.
Amel is survived by: his children, Bill Twarzynski, Donna (Rocky) Vallier, Brenda Twarzynski; grandchildren, Akasha, Shawn (Jolene), Alex (Tammy), Brittany (Tyler), Justin (Amanda), Dustin (Kara), Karly, Karter, Brianna (Travis); great-grandchildren, Avaline, Fox, Gage, Reese, Justyce, Dylan, Xander, Angel, Damon, Carter, Kierra, Carson, Hanna, Mason, Nevaeh, Jayce, Emma and Reece; siblings, Ray Twarzynski, Carrie Suchy and Bernice Bilous.
Amel was predeceased by: his wife, Helen; siblings, Lucy, Phyllis, Bernard and Clem.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
