Obituary of Joan Dow
Joan Dow passed away at Points West Living, Lloydminster Alberta at the age of 94 years.
Joan Mary Dow was born in Lloydminster September 13, 1929 to Fred and Ethel Wells of the Furness district. The 3rd of four children, brother, Arthur (Marie) Wells and Sisters Noreen (Ralph) Mckone, and sister Phyllis Westwood. She worked at the hospital in Lloydminster and married Russell Purdon in 1950 and moved to Wingham Ontario. The marriage was blessed with 4 children, 2 sons, Bryan (Jan) Purdon of Clinton Ontario, Milton (Dianne) Purdon of Lloydminster Alberta and 2 daughters Thelma Dougherty of Campbell River, BC and Linda (Dennis) Coghlin of Listowel Ontario. Joan was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
The family enjoyed past times going to church, skiing, skating, boating and water skiing. Travelling, Joan moved back to the prairies in 1974 and worked at the Coop in North Battleford and then moved to Lloydminster. She married John Dow in 1984 and enjoyed life as long as her health allowed. They enjoyed a number of holidays into the States and one to Mexico. Joan settled into Points West Living into her elder years and lived a full life.
A Private Graveside Service for Joan will be held at Lloydminster City Cemetery.
