Obituary of John Waskewitch
John Clarence Waskewitch passed away at home in Onion Lake, Saskatchewan on September 19, 2023 at the age of 80 years.
John was a very humble, strong, hardworking, caring man. He was an avid hunter; he loved hunting, playing poker pool, playing Texas hold’em. He was always doing something; weekends he would go hunting with his sons, grandsons and special hunting partner, brother-in-law, Clifford Horse. He killed his last moose two days before his passing. He loved working; he was employed with public works for approximately 30 years. He wasn’t the type to sit around and do nothing. He did carpentry in his earlier years and helped build the bridge on Hwy 17. He worked hard to support his family; he would do anything for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially his Queen, Ivory. John was a very loving man with a heart of gold. His heart was so huge that he adopted numerous sons and daughters. He tried to instill traditions and beliefs into his children and grandchildren.
John is survived by: his soulmate, Violet; children, Eugena, Dwayne (Kirsten), Jason (Rachel), Curtis, Fabian, Donovan (Shiela), Reva, Cyrus, Melinda, Paddy, Brian and Hanson Saddleback, Sharon Horse, Malinda Kinar; his only living sister, Linda; God-daughter, Deborah; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and adopted sons and daughters.
John was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred and Eva Waskewitch; daughter, Priscilla; sisters, Victoria, Matilda, Annie, Rosalie, Hazel and Lorraine; brothers, Henry, Ricky, Gilbert; and half brother, John Wolfe.
