Obituary of Dwayne Lewis
Dwayne Rueben Lewis was born in Paradise Hill on October 26, 1975 to Joseph Duncan Quinney and Flora Lewis. He passed away peacefully at his home in Onion Lake June 27, 2023 at the age of 47 years.
Dwayne is the youngest of six siblings. Dwayne loved his boys, Kendall, Randall and Dwayne Junior. He was so happy when he become a dad to 3 boys, a set of twins and third son whom is named after him. He met the love of his life Lucinda, and they spent 28 years together.
He became a singer at the age of 12 and initial singing career started at Frenchman Butte. Due to their ages and after they played a set Fred Fitch would kick them out until the next set. This is when the legend of “Young Country” started.He was very talented. He sang so many songs that people came to love and listen to. He met so many friends on his quest of singing.
Dwayne loved riding horses, golfing and his fur-babies. As the years went by, he had so many friends that played on his band, including his brothers and others too numerous to mention. Dwayne played with famous bands, he jammed with Kentucky Head Hunters at Porky’s Roadhouse and opened for Trooper at Gold Eagle Casino. Mr Dwayne Lewis “the legend”.
Dwayne is survived by: his wife, Lucinda Lewis; children, Kendall Chief, Randall Chief, Dwayne Lewis Jr, Natashya (Donny) Ironchild, Darwin (Crystal) Atcheynum and Natalie (Ken) Lunty; grandchildren, Kaybree Chief, Nytaliell Chief, Jazaria Littlewolfe, Quincey Chief, Keastin Chief and Kihew Singer; siblings, Clifford (Lora) Lewis, Roger (Muriel) Lewis, Cameron (Lois) Lewis, Marilyn Lewis, Eugene (Joanne) Lewis, Vernon Lewis (Colleen) and Dean (Lori) Lewis; adoptive siblings, Frank Harper, Chris Meesto and Delores Chief; and mother of his children, Geraldine Chief.
Dwayne was predeceased by: mother, Flora Lewis; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Mary Cecila Quinney; maternal grandparents, Alex and Mary Lewis; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The Wake for Dwayne will be held at Onion Lake Communiplex, Onion Lake, Saskatchewan on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 12:00 PM.
The Funeral Service for Dwayne will be conducted from Onion Lake Communiplex, Onion Lake, Saskatchewan on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
