Because I live in Holland and was named after him I remeber uncle Gereald (ome Gerrit) as a vivid person who enjoyed live totgether with his wife aunt Annie (tante Annie). He could tell interesting stories about Cnanda, that I enjoyed very much. Though the stars might seem a little less bright without Uncle Gerald, let’s remember to smile at his spirit His kindness was as contagious as his laughter and we were lucky to catch that ‘bug’. Let’s celebrate his love-filled journey with tears, smiles, and warm memories.
In addation of what is said in this abituary I would like to notice the following. As far as I know Gerald was born in Helden and in the late twenties of the last century his familie moves to De Kruidenteelt in Heibloem. Also I like tot add a sibling namely his brother Harrie (my father) who pre-deceased him.

My Deepest Condolences to Gerry's Family. I had the pleasure of working for Gerry at the SWP in 1988 in Marsden, Sk. Gerry treated me so well and took the time training me on the workings of the elevator. One of the memories , and their are many, was one day when I overloaded a train cart in weight, with wheat. Jerry said well, we have to fix this problem. He never lost his cool, and was so mild mannered. At the time I had a half ton pick up, we backed it close to the hopper of the train car, let some grain out on a cardboard piece, and he watched me for a while shovel it back into the truck, then pitched into help. He advised," we always learn from our mistakes". I've held onto that memory since that time, and share the story often. Interestingly enough , fast forward 30 years, and I run into Gerry again at the Hemstock in Lloydminster, when my parents moved in from their farm. It didn't take long ( I think he was 95 at the time) to remember who I was, and some of the stories from our Wheat Pool Days. When I worked for him and seeing him the past few years, he always talked of "my Anna" and his girls. I never knew the depth or history of Gerry as shared in the obituary, but he definitely left a positive imprint on my life the short time I did know him. What a legacy. RIP Gerry

My condolences to Gerald's family. You would not remember me. I was Gerry's superintendent with SWP. After I read his obituary I thought I would tell you that he was a very good employee for SWP. It was always a pleasure to visit Gerry at the elevator. One memory I have is he was getting ready to pay some farmer for some loads that he had hauled to the elevator. I could not make out what he was saying so after the customer left I asked him what he was saying and he said it was easier and quicker for him to use his first language to complete the addition of the loads. We had a good laugh about that later. Sorry for your loss! Stewart Walton

I so enjoyed getting to know Gerald when I worked at Dr Hemstock/Hearthstone. It was always a pleasure to hear his stories and advice. I often spent coffee breaks with him outside in the warmer months hearing his stories, those coffee breaks were never long enough. May he rest in peace and my deepest condolences to your entire family

To the Family,
I met both of your parents while my Mother Betty Garner was living at the Hemstock. Such a lovely couple we would chat in the elevator or in the lobby often while I would be visiting. My sweetest memory was every night your Dad about 8 pm would go down to the kitchen to make toast for them both and then back to their apartment to enjoy it together. I’m sorry to hear of his passing but he was such a lovely man to chat with.
May you hold your memories near to your hearts.
Wendy Garner
