Obituary of Ethel Arnold

BIOGRAPHY ARNOLD ~ Ethel Mae Arnold passed away peacefully at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Lloydminster, Alberta on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the age of 90 years. Mae will be sadly missed by three daughters: Dianne Mae Ockenden of Sherwood Park, Jean Marie and Al Limin of Watrous, Irene Fay and Lynn Drechsel of Blackfoot; five grandchildren; two sisters: Lois Anne and Tom Craig, Charlotte and Paul Yeoman as well as numerous other relatives. Mae was predeceased by three husbands: Jack Ockenden, Cecil Hugill, George Arnold; two brothers: George & Tom Silk; parents: George & Annie Silk; sons: Barry & Vic Ockenden and granddaughter Jana Lyn Moore. The funeral service was conducted from the St. John's Anglican Church, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Michael Stonhouse officiating. Leader of song was the St. John's Anglican Church Choir. The hymns sung were "How Great Thou Art", "In The Garden" and "Beyond The Sunset" accompanied on the organ by Pat Skinner. The honorary pallbearers were Paul Yeoman, Ron Craig, Marcel Viel, Charles Silk, George Day and Mark Weighill. The active pallbearers were Lynn Drechsel, Al Limin, Michael Moore, Danny Drechsel, James Limin and Darrell Stockman. Interment took place in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. CARD OF THANKS We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre for their care and compassion shown to Mom. Thank you to Reverend Michael Stonhouse for your uplifting visits, and wonderful service and eulogy for Mom. Thank you Pat Skinner (the organist) and St. John's choir (of which mom was a member for many years). You surely were music to her ears. What an honor for Mom to hear her grandchildren speak so highly of her, with so many happy memories shared with her family and friends who meant the world to her. She planted the seed of faith in her family and nourished it through the years. She reached out and touched the lives of so many with her love of music, keeping fit, gardening, baking, traveling, working hard and volunteering. She found joy and fulfillment in all things. She taught us to "Count Our Blessings, One by One..." She was ever grateful and had kind words and a smile right to the end. She truly left a legacy of faith, courage and strength. Thank you Deana, James, Candiece, Danny and Lori for sharing your precious memories of Gram (Grandma) with us. Thank you to the pallbearers, both honorary and active. To the ladies from St. John's who did lunch - thank you - it was lovely. For cards, phone calls and visits - thank you. For flowers, donations and food brought to the house - thank you.
