Family and Friends
My name is Addie Sumka and I am Brians older sister.
Brian was born in Gimli, Manitoba (a farming community) - the 11th child of Tillie and Joseph Yaciuk.
Brian has eight older sisters and one older brother, so you can appreciate how tough it must have been being the youngest in such a large family. Brian will always be our baby brother.
At age eighteen, Brian left the farm to go to the big city ......goin to Winnipeg ....WOW how exciting.
Brian was always a very hard worker, but he was also very compassionate and kind.
Brian loved the outdoors, spending time at his cabin in Ontario, fishing, boating and he loved to have family and friends come to his cabin and hang out.
Brian was very involved with his family, always trying to attend the family gatherings regardless of his busy work schedule. With a family the size of ours there was always something going on.
When Brian was ready for a change, Vicki and I planted a seed about working in the oil patch.
Soon after, Brian moved to Lloydminster and began his new job at Allstar Oilfield Services.
Brian we love you. You will always be in our hearts. Peace be with you.
EULOGY - By Bill Steele
Whats happening guys, whats happening guys, any one that has known Brian, for any length of time has heard this greeting, and now you know why he said most things twice. He came from such a large family he probably had to say things twice just to be heard
My name is Bill Steele and I am Brians brother-in-law,
Brian came to Alberta over five years ago to try his hand at something different. He started working for us at Allstar Oilfield and after about a month felt he was ready to go on his own, and he was. Brian (or Perogie) as he was nicknamed, drove the same truck over the years with different names on the door, first Allstar, then Eveready Energy and now Clean Harbours. Thats how it goes in the oilpatch. Dont worry Brian, in our hearts we will always be Allstars.
Brian was a very hard and dedicated worker. You could always count on him to get the job done. Mr. Reliable!
Brian took meticulous care of his equipment, almost wearing the chrome off the truck with his constant cleaning. Its hard to believe how good you could make an old truck look with a little love.
When Brian finally moved into his own house on the hill in Kitscoty, Vicki and I kind of went through empty nest syndrome, but we still included Brian in all our functions; Friday nights at Spiros and Sunday night suppers at our house. Brian always put family first and was always there when you needed him.
Brian was more to me than just a brother in law, he was my brother. We will all miss Brian deeply; he will be in our hearts always. Goodbye Brian, Goodbye Brian.
The funeral service will be conducted from The McCaw Funeral Chapel, Lloydminster on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 3:00 P.M.
