I was thinking about you and your family especially those first mornings after losing someone; the first moments upon stirring when we are still drifting between reality and sleep.
I wrote this when a friend passed earlier this year. I hope it brings some comfort, knowing your grief is shared.

I taught Calub in Grade One. He was part of my first classroom when I moved out here. He was the most gentle, most compassionate and most kind soul as a six year old…I can only imagine he was just as an amazing young man too. I’m in disbelief.

Calub has been a great friend of mine since grade 2. One of our earliest memories together was when I had attended Calubs 9th birthday. We had went to the movie theatres, and after we headed back to Calubs to enjoy cake and gifts. We had to take 2 vehicles back to accommodate everyone and I remember Calub and I racing the other vehicle that carried his other friends.. I’m pretty sure we won…! My last memory I have with Calub was in May. We had planned to go to the casino however Calub needed his debit card which was in St. Paul. Me and Calub had made a road trip to St. Paul that night, made it there in less than an hour, realized his debit card was not there but decided to head to the casino anyway. We didn't win much, but the fireworks we lit after made up for it. Calub, you were such a great friend. You hold such a special place in my heart and I will never forget our memories made. Rest easy.❤️❤️

I had the pleasure of teaching Calub many times throughout high school. He truly was one of the kindest and most genuine individuals I have ever met. He had a gift where he could brighten any room he walked into and connect with everyone he came across. He will be deeply missed.
