Jean was so very special to us because she and Stan were some of the first ones we met when we came to Papua New Guinea in 1968. One of our fondest memories was when we ended up on her living room floor because we had to bring our son to Ukarumpa from the village where we worked for Stan to stich up a cut on his face. We arrived in the middle of the night, and she and Stan took us in without a qualm. Another wonderful memory was enjoying the Pasadena Rose Parade with her and Stan on January 1, 2005. She was so thrilled and excited to see all those flowers up close and personal.

Jean treated me like a daughter. I remember spending nights at their house with my friend Lois. In the morning Jean would make pancakes and Lois and I would compete to see who could eat the most. Lois usually won. What a wonderful godly woman and a blessing in my life.
