Obituary of Lori Ann Nelson

Please share a memory of Lori Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sorrow we have to say our wonderful daughter Lori Ann Nelson of Calgary, AB, passed away January 27, 2022 at the age of 51 years.

Lori Ann was born in Lloydminster, SK, on Aug 18, 1970. Lori Ann took her schooling in Tulliby Lake and Marwayne. After graduating she went to Australia for 7 months then onto Denmark for another 7 months both on Agriculture exchange. When she returned home she worked with an oil company till she went to university for a Petroleum Engineering degree which took her to Bonnyville, Lloydminster and finally to Calgary. She received awards for her hard work and dedication. Lori Ann’s expectation of herself was for excellence. Most recently she decided to make a career change so was enrolled at the Bow Valley College in the Health Care Aid two-year program, which she would have graduated from in August 2022. In the Dean’s condolences she expressed Lori Ann was a bright, caring person and absolute pleasure to have in the program. Lori Ann at a very young age was very responsible and competent which continued throughout her life. Lori Ann was involved in farm/ranch life, she did whatever it took to help out, whether it was looking after her brothers, working cattle on her horse, operating farm equipment or weeding the garden. She was in gymkhana, 4H, figure skating, curling and softball to name a few of her extra activities. She was also Lea Park Rodeo Queen in 1986. Her favorite place on earth was the river hills along the North Saskatchewan River on the family farm. Animals were always a part of her life especially her horses and dogs. She had a strong dislike for chickens, turkeys and especially mice! At Lori Ann’s passing she had a faithful dog companion Ella, which she thought the world of. Lori Ann was a special person that will be missed by all who knew her, may she rest in peace. Our hearts are filled with incredible sadness. She was caring, giving, compassionate and supportive to family and friends.

We will miss her beautiful smile.

Lori Ann leaves to mourn her passing: parents, Robert and Arlene Nelson; brothers, Vincent (Arlene) and Curt (Kristin); nieces, Madison and Sydni; nephews, Ethan, Ryan and Walker.

Lori Ann was predeceased by: her maternal grandparents, Clarence and Ivy Isert; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Hazel Nelson; and uncle, Bob Isert.
