I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around this and I wanted to say I’m so sorry for your loss Langenfurth family. I think I’ll always remember Jarik as that scrawny kid I grew up with that had a head of long curly hair that bounced like crazy when he ran or played sports. Sometime in high school, we made a bet and for the life of me I can’t remember what it was about. Must have been grades related because I don’t think I would make a bet I knew I couldn’t win, like something athletic, especially given his nickname for me was “Cripple”. He lost, and Jarik ended up cutting his famous locks. As dramatic as he was about it, he must have liked it, because in all the years I saw him after high school, he never seemed to want to go back. I’ll miss my go-to Harry Potter expert that I could text randomly with important questions or with random life updates and I’ll miss our annual Christmas-ish lunches. Rest easy Jar, you’ll be incredibly missed.

I am truly sorry to hear of Jarik's passing. Although we have not kept in touch after graduating and going our separate ways, I have always looked back on the memories as bus-mates and friends fondly. Years ago, I recall writing a long email to my cousin to brag about how I had three sibling friends who surrounded my age, and just how cool it was that two of them were twins. I will cherish this memory, and I hope you will too.
At a time like this, grief can be immeasureable. I just want to remind you that you are not alone, and you do not need to suffer alone. While only you feel the experience you are having, your friends, family and neighbours are all experiencing some level of grief too. And they'll be there to talk. And so will health professionals. If necessary, take a break for your mental health. Please, keep that in mind as you move forward.
