Obituary of Andy MacDougall

Please share a memory of Andy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Andrew "Andy"  Dewitt MacDougall of Marsden, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 18, 2021 at Lloydminster Hospital.

Andy was born Nov 27, 1953 near Ingonish Beach, Nova Scotia where he resided until moving to the Abbotsford, BC area as a young adult where he drove buses and trucks and learned to love driving.  In 1984 he became a Christian and, through thick and thin, never lost his faith.  In 1992 he met his wife Evelyn and moved to Marsden SK to be a farmer.   And a trucker.   Despite building a top performing herd of 50 Maine Anjou crossed cows, a bison herd, and the StrawBoss hay hauling business, the call of the open highway was always beckoning, and he eventually opted to become a full time long haul trucker, and put more than 1.5 million miles on his last Freightliner.

Andy will be remembered mostly for his sharp wit, humorous banter, funny faces and gestures, and being able to spice up any visit and get people laughing.  On the open highway he had many friends who stayed in touch and kept each other entertained.    Andy loved music, he liked it loud, especially Celtic and Bluegrass Gospel that you could play the spoons along to.  Those who knew Andy always knew that, behind his banter, he was always generous when someone said they needed help, and he got asked for that a lot.

He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn MacDougall of Marsden Saskatchewan, his stepson Chris Paterson and his stepdaughter Kelly Paterson; grandchildren Jesse, Landen, Mataya, and Kailor; brothers, Fred and Dan of Ottawa ON, Francis of Sydney NS, Greg, David, Bernie of Ingonish Beach NS; sisters Diane and Georgina of Abbotsford BC, Edith of Enfield NS, and Linda of Dartmouth NS.

He is predeceased by his father, John Thomas MacDougall; mother, Margaret Elsie MacDougall; sisters Mary Levy, Christine Coolen, Margaret Bernice MacDougall; brother, Daniel Thomas MacDougall, and niece Tonya Christine Coolen.  His mother had 31 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a large family legacy.

He will be missed by many.
