Karl sitting in the hay with baby Huey in his lap and feeding him his bottle and laughing, I will always have that picture in my mind.
Playing cribbage with Eva at the kitchen table while Karl had hos headphones on while watching war history.
Missing Eva and Karl and all those special times we had.
Many hugs to you

Karl was the first Staff Sergeant I ever go to meet when I joined the Windsor Police Force. At that time he was in charge of the stores Branch and in charge he was. He took kindly to me and my group of newbies and offered some sage advice on how to mange yourself within this new environment (to us). He was a great guy with a great sense of humour and a gentle man which was surprising because his presence was large and in charge. Loved Karl for his straight forward approach to situations and his dedication to his profession. His skill were evident in everything he did and even more impressive in his ability to group a chamber of 6 'wad cutters' bullets as he called them onto a paper target with little or no space separating them. These are but a few of the things I admired about the man. But later, when I had an opportunity to essentially follow in his footsteps at the Ontario Police College as a seconded instructor I experienced just how far the admiration for Karl was. So many of the long term instructors there not only remembered him but gushed about what kind of man he was and about his positive contributions to the Ontario Police College.
I'm sure all his family are mostly aware of his genuine and positive attributes. I do hope that in my writing I have added even one piece of history for you his dear relative of a person for whom I considered a true leader and later a co-worker.
Rest in peace big fella, you have served your family and society well.
