Obituary of Tena Ringland
It is with the greatest sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Katherine "Tena" Ringland.
Tena is survived by: her children, Wayne (Dawn), Wendy (Greg), Lorrie (Brenda) and Barry along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her families will miss her forever. Tena also leaves behind: sister-in-law, Iris Fournier; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Kay Ringland. Aunty Tena was also loved by many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Tena was predeceased by: her parents, Fritz and Margaret Holthus; sister, Martha (Andy) Gordon; and brother, John (Marge) Holthus.
Mom was born January 3, 1931 in Unity, SK. She was raised in the Marsden area and rode horseback to the Fram school house. She worked in the area for a few years after she finished school, then her and sister Martha took the train to Lloydminster to start their jobs at the Lloydminster Hospital.
In 1953, she married Bill Ringland. They had 4 children and mostly lived in the Lloydminster area for their married life. Mom spent 25 years working at Dr. Cooke Nursing Home, caring for the elderly. After retiring, she got involved with volunteering at the Interval Store. She loved going to "work" at the store. So many of her friends were her co-workers and customers of the store. She was very proud to receive her 25 year pin last year for volunteering.
Due to COVID-19, we will be having a private ceremony for immediate family. We will honor Mom with friends and family at a future date.
We want to thank everyone for all the wonderful, loving support we received during Mom's illness. The phone calls, the food delivered, the beautiful flowers and the kind words are so greatly appreciated.
Donations in memory of Tena may be made to The Interval Store - Lloydminster or The Olive Tree Community Centre.
