I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, I worked with Phil for 12 years. I remember the dreaded phone calls, when I'd be sleeping on my days off only to hear Phil's voice asking if I'd like to come in for overtime, seldom did I want too but I rarely turned him down. Such a short retirement. God bless your family.

Dear Norma, Alicia and Shawn and the rest of Phil's extended family and friends: I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband and father. Uncle Phil was born the youngest of nine children in Buckingham Quebec and was my mother Clare's baby brother. Phil brought laughter and music into our household in Brockville when he was a young man before he headed out West. I will always think of him playing his guitar in our living room when I hear the song Bye Bye Miss American Pie. I last saw him several years ago when he flew from Saskatchewan to Brockville to see my mother in hospital as she battled terminal cancer, a fight she sadly lost last December. The visit by Phil and brother Mike who flew in from New Brunswick lifted her spirits as she rallied and returned home to open up one of her many photo albums and laugh and reminisce with them about their childhood in Buckingham on the farm. I was touched by Phil's kindness and happy to see that smile again. I can see it in this photo of him as boy on the farm attached. May he Rest In Peace and may the music never die.

Norma, Alicia and Shawn and your families,
Please accept my family's deepest condolences and our warm thoughts for each of you.
My memories of Uncle Phil are pretty spread out, just like our family across the country, but I can still hear his laughter and see the mischievous twinkle in his eye whenever we would gather as a group for some special occasion and he'd be joking with his siblings.
While I'm sad didn't get to connect face to face in September when we came through Lloydminster, we did talk on the phone and through Facebook and I am grateful to have had that one on one time with him. He wasn't well but that didn't stop him from peppering me with questions and offering words of advice on our transition from the Pacific to the Prairies. I appreciate it even more now.
Sending you strength and love at this difficult time.

Sincere sympathy Norma, Alicia, Shawn and family.
I worked with Phil for many years, starting with United Oilseed then later with ADM. Phil was so nice to work with, always had a smile. He enjoyed his farm as well and delivered hay to us one summer for our horses. So sorry you had to say good bye. He will be missed.

My memory of Uncle Phil is him teasing me relentlessly about a new boyfriend when I was 15. He was pretty artful at it - even got me laughing at myself, too!
Much love to Philip's family. It's obvious why he will be missed. xoxo

My husband & I both worked with Phil at ADM. He was always genuine with a great sense of humour. Years after no longer working together, we were still always met with a smile and a quick catch up whenever we ran in to him and Norma. Proud to tell us about Shawn, Alicia and his grandchildren.
We will always remember him with fondness. Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Take care, Mick & Jackie Divito.

Judi and I offer our deepest condolences to you Norma. Alicia, Shawn and your extended family. I met the Hiars a couple of times while visiting with Phil and Norma and realized that Norma was a great partner for Phil and that he had easily integrated with his new in-laws and made a great adjustment to work and family life in Lloyd. The problem with being from a big family in a big country is that situations and circumstance often draw us apart and we do not get as many opportunities as we would like to get together. When we did it was always great to see that Phil's temperament, humor and love and pride of family was evident to all. He not only succeeded in life but more importantly he enjoyed it and was respected and cherished by those he had the opportunity to live and work and play with. Phil and I discussed his health situation over the phone a couple of times before he passed. He asked me to pray for him and we exchanged our love for each other. I promised to pray and I have and will. I am confident he is now in a better place. He will be missed and remembered. Brother Mike
