Obituary of Albert Duchesne

Albert Duchesne died at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre on May 24, 2010 after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was 94.
Albert was born in Mayberry, Saskatchewan on October 29, 1915. He took his schooling in Gravelbourg and at age 13 moved with his parents to a homestead at Makwa, Saskatchewan. In 1941, Albert married Germaine Gervais. Shortly after his marriage, Albert joined the Army and served his country in England, France, Belgium and Holland. When the war was over, he moved to Regina to be with his wife and infant son, Andre. Later on he returned to Makwa where he took on various jobs, finally becoming the grader operator for the Rural Municipality of Loon Lake. There his second son, Marc, was born.
Germaine died in 1963. Albert married Mary Weiers on April 1, 1967. They made their home in Barthel, Saskatchewan and after many productive years, in 1998, they retired in Medicine Hat.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Marc (Pamela) and their children, Jonah, Hannah and Ava, Blackfoot, Alberta, Marys children: Cliff (Trudy) Weiers, Powell River, British Columbia, Donald (Anita) Weiers, Shell Lake, Saskatchewan, Robert (Linda) Weiers, Coalhurst, Alberta, Betty (Don) Mazure, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Daniel (Carol) Weiers, Port Alberni, British Columbia, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Albert was predeceased by his wife, Germaine in 1963 and his second wife, Mary in 2004, and his son, Andre in 2008.
Albert was a kind, gentle and generous person. He used his many talents to serve the communities in which he lived. He will be sadly missed.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 28, 2010 at St. Anthonys Roman Catholic Church, Lloydminster.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.
CARD OF THANKS
We would like to thank the nurses at the hospital who took great care of our dad while he was there, also the nurses at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre who took great care of him while he resided there, they did a fantastic job. All our thanks goes out to them.
