Obituary of Agnes Andrews-McCormick

BIOGRAPHY ANDREWS-MCCORMICK ~ Agnes Emelia Andrews-McCormick passed away peacefully in the Lloydminster Hospital, Lloydminster Saskatchewan on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the age of 90 years. Agnes will be sadly missed by her children: Marlene and Jerry Lamont of Surrey, British Columbia, Dwight and Theresa Andrews of Lloydminster, Heather and Jim Grant of Lloydminster; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; six step-children: Sharon, Delbert and Doreen, Leonard, Roy and Pat, Bill, Anne; as well as numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister-in-law Thelma Mantieffel of Lloydminster as well as numerous other relatives. The funeral service was conducted from the McCaw Funeral Chapel, Lloydminster, Alberta on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Joyce Carson officiating. The eulogy was read by Gail Munro. The organist was Pat Skinner. The honorary pallbearers were Julie Donaldson, Heidi Lamont, Trina Rekimowich and Jaime Grant. The active pallbearers were Laverne Andrews, Darcy Andrews, Quentin Andrews, Kelly Grant, Nicholas Grant and Tim Rekimowich. Interment was held the in Cut Knife Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. EULOGY We are gathered here to celebrate the life of Agnes Andrews-McCormick. Agnes was born to George and Amanda Mantieffell on Section 23-44-24 W3 on May 25, 1920 in the Ballinora District. She was the fifth child of seven children. She attended school at Alada School which was only four miles away from home. The mode of transportation was horse and buggy in the summer and a team and cutter in the winter. The one time that she decided to ride a horse to school, she did not tell the horse to giddy up and go but just swatted the horse on the back side. She got bucked off and ended up walking to school. Of course it was the horse’s fault, not hers!! She married Grant Andrews on October 24, 1940. They lived on the Andrews farm in the Wilbert District. To this union three children were born: Marlene, Dwight and Heather. They parted ways in 1964. She later married Charlie McCormick. They farmed north of Cut Knife until they retired to Lloydminster in 1992. They enjoyed many years of square dancing and traveling making lasting friendships. Charlie’s health failed and he moved into the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre. Agnes dedicated as much time as possible to spend with Charlie at the home. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She also was interested in current affairs of the world. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, sisters, two grandchildren and a step daughter-in-law. Her husband Charlie predeceased her on July 2, 2010.
