Obituary of Helen Wiebe

Wiebe – Helen Doris Elizabeth passed away peacefully in Lloydminster Hospital, Lloydminster, Saskatchwan on September 15, 2010 at the age of 68 years. Helen will be sadly missed by her husband Paul; four children Kenny and Sandra Kam, Kerry Kam, Karen and Gary Siemens, Roseanne and Gord Skotynski; eight grandchildren Kristine, Carlie, Aaron, Jarome, Jordan, Durwin, Jeanna and Jayson and one great grandchild Brody; two brothers; one sister as well as numerous other relatives. The funeral service was conducted from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Lloydminster, Alberta on Monday September 20, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Jan Sobkowicz officiating attendance, featuring Marlene Risling, Mel Risling, Donna Weston, Theresa Brown, and Carmelita Swan. Active pallbearers were Joe Missere, Allan Missere, Walter Wiebe, Art Wiebe, Dave Wiebe, and Bruce Murdoch. The Honorary pallbearers were the Sears ladies that Helen worked with. Interment was held at the Kindersley Cemetery on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Eulogy Born on February 22, 1942 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. Helen Missere was the first of four children to Barb and Hilary Missere. She spent the first six years of her life with her Mother and Maternal grandparents on their farm while her Father was in the army. She had seven years of peace until her sister Marie came along followed by two brothers Allen and Joe the last being fourteen years later. As you imagine she had to play a very important part in the home with her siblings. Helen attended school in Kindersly and went on to work in Doctor O’donall’s office. She married and was blessed with three children. During the time she had only Kenny she also worked at Eaton’s. After the other two arrived she chose to stay home. In 1969 the family moved to Saskatoon and then onto North Battleford in 1977. As a single mom she reentered the work force working in the lady fashions department at the Co-op. In 1980 the family moved to Lloydminster where she worked for Anderson Exploration and then onto Sears, retiring after 17 years. During this time she married her “wonderful hubby“ Paul Wiebe sharing a 25 year long honeymoon and gaining another daughter. In addition to this she gained all Paul’s family to whom she became very attached. They enjoyed many things together … the cabin at the lake, snowmobiling, boating, traveling, building a house, creating a gorgeous yard … they were inseparable .. even doing dishes together. Helen had many passions… sewing, painting, decorating, baking, gardening, handwork, puzzles, reading, traveling, shoes….chocolate, chocolate, chocolate… but most of all family and friends. She will always be remembered for her warm heart, smile and her great sense of humor. She counted many of you as friends. Also a thank-you to the Lloydminster Ambulance Attendants for the memorable trips to Edmonton and back. Special thanks to Pastor Ross Plews for your willingness to conduct a ceremony to celebrate 25 years of marriage with a renewal of Wedding Vows. As well to Doug Bayton and Vera Gallant for their great public speaking skills and taking a leadership role in organizing Helen’s celebration of life and funeral. Thank-you to Marlene Risling, Mel Risling, Donna Weston in performing some of Helen’s favorite hymns.
