So sorry for your loss to all the families involved.
I spent a lot of time at the Maier house as a kid hanging out with Gee. Curt was like an older brother to me doing the usual older brother things. I remember all the Nintendo game times we had where you weren’t “allowed” to beat Curt at any games especially ice hockey. He’d hold the slap shot button down for whole periods and you better not try and take it from him! The memories of hockey helmet and gloves fights in the basement, the wrestling matches over the giant pillow in that same basement, the fun times in that massive camping trailer they had. I always remember the time he invited me to go with him to the mall with him. They were having the coke/pepsi blind taste challenge and he must’ve wanted to go pretty bad. No Gee and no one else just me. I thought wow I must be pretty cool for this popular older kid from school wanted to hang out with me! I realize he probably tried everyone he could before asking me but still as a nerdy kid I thought it was great.
Even though I’d go long periods of time without seeing him, when I did it was like the early days in Regina at The Maier’s. It was like he’d treat me like that extra younger brother he had growing up. I’ve always remembered him that way and will continue to even though he’s gone. RIP Curt you will be forever missed.

It’s a heavy day. Curtis was one of the toughest customers I knew growing up. We had an epic fist fight at Taylor Field and I took the hardest punch in my life from him. Still bite on the scar in my lip today. But that’s what was so beautiful about Curtis. After we fought, he made sure we became good friends. We were no longer rivals or enemies. No hard feelings. Friends. Although we never got to spend a bunch of time together, I’ve always remembered and thought about him. And will continue moreso now. Bear hugs to his family. ‘We live, we die and death not ends it.’ JDM

Des and kids, Kyla and all family, I am so very sorry to hear of Curtis' passing. I remember Curtis was always so friendly and lovable in high school, where I met him and was the last time I have seen him. I feel for your loss of a husband, father to your babies and friend to many who enjoyed his company. I cannot imagine what you are going through. Stay strong and may God bless you and your family for now and always. RIP Curtis.
