Obituary of Yvonne Belanger

BELANGER ~ Yvonne Marie Belanger (nee Courchesne) passed away on November 2, 2010 at the Doctor Cooke Extended Care Center. Yvonne was born in Chauvin, Alberta, the 7th child of a family of 14. Yvonne is survived by daughter Helene (Norman) Malo and their children: Rita (Les Campbell), John (Sheri) Malo, Paulette (Hunter) Vroman, and Kim (Mark) Schwabenbauer; son Bob (Tillie) Belanger and their children: Marlin (Bev) Belanger and Cindy (Kevin) Dickie; daughter Jeannine (Joe) Solowy and their children: Kristina Solowy and Loretta (Rob) Hart; daughter Cecile (Mark) Schiller and their son Jason Casey; son John (Lorraine) Belanger; 16 great grandchildren; one sister Louise (Mike) Herenchuk; one brother Roland (Terry) Courchesne and many sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Yvonne was predeceased by her loving husband Gerry, one grandson Kevin Solowy, 6 sisters, 5 brothers, 4 sisters in law, 6 brothers in law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Yvonne and Gerry had many friends in Edgerton and Chauvin where they farmed for 45 years. Upon moving to Lloydminster in 1977 Yvonne made many friends at the Legacy Centre playing cards and floor curling. She also loved bowling and won various trophies over the years. She was involved in the CWL both in Chauvin and in Lloydminster and was always helpful with a variety of events in the community. As a talented seamstress and wonderful cook, Yvonne took loving care of her family and friends. Her kind heartedness and loving smile will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Thanks to Father Jan Sobkowicz for his inspiring message at both the Prayers and the Funeral Service. Thanks to Brother Carlos, the service attendants and the CWL for both the Honor Guard and the luncheon. Thanks to our brother John for the heartfelt eulogy. Appreciation is extended to Lorraine Belanger, Paulette Malo and Cindy Dickie for reading at the services. Thank you to pallbearers John Malo, Jason Casey, Marlin Belanger, Bert Courchesne, Luc Tourcotte and Michael Courchesne. The music was beautiful and our thanks go to Dori Whyte, Donna Weston, Marlene and Mel Risling. Thanks to Dean Wenzel, Dave McCaw and the McCaw Funeral Home for their care and professionalism. Sincere apprecation goes to the staff at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Home for the exceptional care of our Mom and making her last few days very comfortable. As well thank you to Dr. Cavanagh and Dr. Kerlis. Most of all thank you to everyone who befriended Yvonne and helped to make her life so full and enjoyable.
