Obituary of Ethel Postnikoff

Ethel Christina Postnikoff (Nee Harper) passed away on Tuesday, October 18 at the age of 80 years.
She was married to Pete on March 13, 1967. Ethel and Pete lived at the river in which Pete was the operator of the ferry. So many kids stayed during the summer months at her house and she played the role of a mother and grandmother to many of these children, who she loved dearly.
She loved to spend time with family and friends and would make everyone welcome in her home. Food was always available and she ensured that everybody was fed. Multi-talented was her character and included sewing, baking, gardening, canning and being a best friend. The freezers in her house were bountiful with food.
She was a very hard worker, being the first child of 9 in was her responsibility to help out with the family. She had to quit school when she was in grade 6 and she would help her dad hauling logs out of the bush to help build a house and to work on a farm. She was recognized at the Western Development Museum in North Battleford for being the first lady rancher from Onion Lake.
Ethel worked for a catering company for a few years and she had her cleaning contracts. She cleaned Newcap News station for nearly 40 years. She gave many people the opportunity to work with her.
Ethel leaves to mourn her passing: her brothers, Willard and his wife, Lydia Harper and Frank Harper and Donna Whitstone; her sisters, Florence Harper, Lydia and her husband, Don Willoughby, Bertha and her husband, Lloyd Cook, Nellie Harper, Pauline White; her aunties, Sarah Heathen, Katherine Wolf, and Edna Cannepotatoe and Cecilia Watchmaker; her sister-in-law, Gertrude Postnikoff and Lillian and her husband, Karl Wojtowicz, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren and her three beloved cats.
Ethel was predeceased by her mother, Christina Harper (Heathen) in 1988; her father, Victor Harold Harper in 1991; her daughter, Peggy-Lee Postnikoff in 2014; her husband, Pete Postnikoff in 2001; and her sister Edna-Rose in 2011.
A wake will be held starting Thursday, October 20 at 3:00 PM until Saturday, October 22 at 10:30 AM at the Onion Lake Hall followed by a service at 11:00 AM. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 22 at 3:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Lloydminster, Alberta.
