I have never met Raymond, but in reading his obituary, I realized that he was from Steep Creek, Sask. I was also from Steep Creek. My parents, Sidney and Mable Mitchell farmed there until about 1950, when they sold the farm to Sam Soloduka. I remember Adolf Nykiforuk's family. I went to Grade 1 in the little country school, just about a mile from our farm. My grandparents lived across the road from us. Many times later in life we would go on a day trip to "the Forks" to have a family picnic. A few years ago my older brother Sidney Jr, visited the farm and got some boards from the old house that Dad had built as he knew it was to be torn down. Using those boards he framed a picture of that house. It is a precious memory!
I just thought you might like to know that others have "memories" of Steep Creek and that our families were all part of that farming community
I was saddened to hear that another "Steep Creeker" had passed on. His memory lives on in your hearts.
