Lil McLean passed away in Regina, SK June 20, 2014 at the age of 101. Born March 31, 1913 on the family farm south of Lashburn, SK where her father settled as a Barr Colonist. Lil is predeceased by parents, George and Chris Edwards, sister May (McIntyre-Marsden), brother Jimmy 6 years, husband Joseph A. McLean Q.C.,1975 and son Joseph Raymond 1968. She is survived by one brother George Edwards, Brandon, MB; son Rodney (1949), grandchildren Krista (Trevor), Jonathan (Tanya) and Ryan (Diane); and great-grandchildren: Jake, Molly, and Lucy - Moose Jaw, and Rylan, Logan, Alexandra and Colby - White City; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Following high school in Lashburn, SK Lil entered the school of nursing at Saskatoon City Hospital graduating in 1933. She nursed in Saskatoon and Lashburn until 1935 when she joined the staff of the Lloydminster Hospital until married in 1941. Lil lived in Lloydminster from 1935 to 1997 with the exception of three years spent in Ottawa during WWII. While in Lloydminster Lil was very active in the community: Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Board, Health Region, Library, Candy Stripers, Meals on Wheels and knitting many outfits for the Hospital Auxiliary Showcase, something she continued in Moose Jaw until the age of 97. In 1997 Lil moved to Moose Jaw to be closer to her son Rodney and his family where she adjusted to apartment living and quickly made wonderful new friends in "The Friendly City". In the last few years she enjoyed her residence at Crescent Park Retirement Villa near Crescent Park and the helpful librarians across the street. Special thanks for care received during the last year at Pioneer Lodge and Extendicare, Moose Jaw, and Pioneer Village, Regina. A special remembrance as well goes to long-time friends Chuck and Sherrill (Williams) Howard of Victoria. At Lil's request interment will be held at the family plot in Lloydminster, SK the morning of Saturday July 19, 2014 with a friendship lunch to follow. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in her memory to the Moose Jaw Public Library or Moose Jaw Cultural Centre, or the Barr Colony Museum, Lloydminster, or to a charity her great-grandson Logan raises funds for Skate4Smiles (http://skate4smiles.webs.com/) c/o 21 Aspen Place, White City, S4L 0A3. In living memory of Lil, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
