Fond memories of Mr. Sokalofsky my home room teacher, my first year in High School and Initiation Days! I was some what unhappy at the things required of me and the costume required to perform in, until I saw my home room teacher being wheeled around in a wheel barrow, wearing a baby bonnet, shaking a baby rattle and wearing black gum rubber boots, protruding over the front of the wheel barrow and he was smiling and having a great time! Another lesson well taught.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Sokalofsky family. Alex was a man whose company we cherished ! His tall tales, and sense of humour kept us smiling long after the stories were told. Both Darlene and I will remember him fondly as a teacher, a friend, a mentor and a trustworthy kind individual wth a strong sense of cmmunity and family.

Alex and Elsie Sokalofsky were a long time family friends. We spent many winters ice fishing, and many summers barbequeing. Mr Sokalofsky was also my Trigonometry teacher. He had a fine grasp of the numbers that's for sure. One of my most interesting memories was when he developed and commercialized a board game called "TURF" which was similar to Monopoly - but betting on horses. We used to play if often. He test marketed the game in Western Canada. It was an excellent display of entrepreneurial spirit. I know my parents, Mayson and Kamalini Abraham, who pre-deceased Alex, would want us to extend our sincerest condolences to the Sokalofsky family.

My parents, the late Mayson and Kamalini Abraham cherished their friendship with Alex and Elsie Sokalofsky. In addition to being his student, I will always remember the ice fishing in winter, the barbeques in summer, and of course his wit, humour and sense of common decency. We offer sincere condolences to the Sokalofsky family for their profound loss. Arun Abraham

I feel I speak for all of the thousands of students whom Alex taught when I offer sincere condolences to all of Alex's family for the loss of a great man. No computers or calculators in Alex's algebra and geometry classes - just good old fashioned teachings by a dedicated teacher. He coached hockey and softball, too. Only later did I learn that Alex was the jokester in the teachers' lunch room! Of course, the biggest lesson that Alex silently provided was that "when one is dealt lemons, make lemonade". May you RIP.
