I only knew about Garry Poppleton and his family from reading the Poppleton entry in the two volumes of "Manitou Family History" brought to Doncaster, England by Louise Poppleton some years ago. Louise informed me of Garry's death in her 2011 Christmas letter. My sympathy to Margaret and his family.

I am so sorry to hear that Gary has passed away. I will remember him as a hockey team mate that was always smiling no matter how bad things got. He will be be welled missed in the community I am sure. My feeling go out to his family and friends.

Dear Margie,Kari, Tara and Dinah and families: I am so sorry to hear about Garry's death. I think about all the visits I had with your family in the 70's. I remember Garry's love and loyalty to family,his involvement in the Community, his dedication to the Church and the fun we had as we shared life together in our Bible Study Group in East Manitou. Garry had a quiet way about him but an infectious smile. He will not be forgotten! I am so sorry to hear of your loss, I keep thinking of all the things Garry did for us girls. I can't imagine how crazy a bunch of teenage girls made him, on and off the ice. What patience it takes to be a coach. And as we grew up and grew adventurous he was, on occasion, our driver as well... he did a good job looking out for his daughters friends that's for sure!! Love you all, and know that we are thinking of you.
