My little sister was a wonderful lady. I'm so proud to say she was my sister.
She made so many memories for us. Even this summer as we camped at Manitou Lake for a week in August.
When we got all set up Mavis put a message on face book that we were camped at the lake and anyone who would like to come and visit to come down. We had lots of company during that week.
She also put a note on face book to the effect that this one sister kept ditching her to go home to cook for the silage crew. That was me. I would always hurry up and get the supper dishes down and head back to the lake so we could have some laughs and make some more memories.
Mavis I'm sorry I didn't spend more time at the lake that week, but the time we did spend together I will always cherish. I love you and I will miss you.
Love Carolyn "Cookie"

Mavis & I met at AAA Academy where we were taking a short course. Later we found out that my parents were acquainted with hers, & I remember stopping at their farm many years ago. I then became her Avon lady & we continued to have contact. She will certainly leave a hole in the lives of those she touched. So thankful that she is now in a better place with no more pain. You are all in my prayers.

Reg, Eugene, Melanie and the family. So very sorry to hear about Mavis. I will never forget the first time I met her and saw her beautiful smile and heard her laugh. Having Mavis and Reg come here to visit in newfoundland is something I will never forget. Memories that we will always cherish. I can close my eyes and see her walking down around the shore line it was something she enjoyed and took great pleasure in. She welcomed us into her home on our visit there and made us feel as if we were family and I know in my heart we were. She will always be remembered and forever be loved. From your newfoundland family. Rest peacefully Mavis. Love and prayers to you all.

Mavis and I met at the Coop grocery store, while we both worked there together. I could always tell when Mavis arrived on the floor to work, because I would hear her contagious laugh echoing through the store. I was usually elbow deep in work. Putting an order through for a customer. Even though a huge smile would cross my lips, when I heard her laugh. I so enjoyed the company of this woman. I am so happy I meet her. We enjoyed the music of Trooper together and had a standing date to go to any concerts of Trooper together. Before I left Lloydminster I made sure I meet Mavis to say goodbye at Timmys. I was moving back to the Okanagan Valley. We prayed together in Timmy's and Mavis gave her life to Jesus that day at Timmy's. she said she felt new, that she felt lighter. I am so happy, we meet that day. I loved Mavis, she was a very special woman, a friend. I will never forget my friend. I also meet Brad while working at the Coop, a really nice young man. To Reg, and the boys, my sincere sympathy. She will be greatly missed. She is greatly loved. To all her family and friends, aren't you glad she blessed your life? I know I am.

I have been fortunate enough to have known Mavis since I was just a little girl. Both our families lived in the metropolis of Marsden,Sk. I went to school with Bradley and Jeff and Eugene babysat my sister and I a few times. My Mom used to go for walks with Mavis and cut her thick gorgeous locks. I will never forget her contagious laugh that could fill a room. Years went by and it wasn't until just a couple months ago I heard that laugh again while I was at work. I walked into the room and saw Mavis sitting on her bed, I introduced myself and told her I would be her nurse for the next few days. We shared many stories of our families and what had happened in the last 15 years or so. She was very passionate about her family and friends, her love was evident by the way she spoke of them and the way her face lit up when she saw them.
Mavis was my patient for about a week before she was transferred to the city, I gave her a hug, wished her the best of luck and told her I hoped our paths would cross again soon. It was not long after that,Mavis came back to the hospital, I knew now more than ever was when her and her family needed someone to lean on. Mavis had the most positive personality and was the most selfless person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She would always ask how you were doing and was not one to complain about a thing. As the days grew longer and seemed to blur together I knew it was time to share some good news with Mavis, even though I wasn't sharing it yet with anyone else. I told her I was pregnant and would be expecting a baby in May. She lit up and gave me a huge hug and wore a smile the rest of the day. She told me I would be a great mother, I will remember that forever. Mavis kept her wits about her and would crack the odd joke when you least expected it and we would both be in stitches. I never dreaded coming to work because I knew Mavis would be waiting for me when I got there and my mission was always to bring at least one smile to her face, keep her comfortable and be a familiar person she could trust.
Mavis told me one day she didn't know how she got so lucky, to have such great boys and to have married a great man, I told her she deserved it more than anyone because she has been such a wonderful wife and mother to them.
I will truly cherish my memories of Mavis in my heart forever. I know that we all have a beautiful guardian angel looking down from above and that she would want for all of us to keep on smiling and laughing and carrying on her positive energy and spirit always.
