Obituary of Mervin Burgess

BURGESS ~ Mervin Harold Burgess passed away at the Pine Island Lodge in Maidstone, Saskatchewan on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the age of 87 years. Mervin leaves to mourn: his loving wife, Lillian Burgess (nee Schimelfening); two children; Patricia Snyder and Ken (Susan) Burgess; four grandchildren: Doug (Callie) Snell, Robert Dolan, Steven (Nicole) Burgess and Susan Sexsmith as well as numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mervin was predeceased by: his parents, Archie and Emma Burgess; son, Stuart Burgess; daughter, Peggy Dolan; and several brothers and sisters. The Memorial Service for Mervin was conducted from Maidstone United Church, Maidstone, Saskatchewan on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Ean Kasper officiating. The eulogy was given by Ken Burgess. The hymn "Church in the Wildwood" was accompanied by organist Frances Wright and the Maidstone Community Choir. The honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in his life. Donations in Mervin's memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or to a Charity of Choice. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks The family wishes to thank Dr. Spangenburg and Dr. Leo and the staff of Maidstone Health Complex and Pine Island Lodge. Our Home Care Ladies are considered family and we thank them so much. Thank you to Reverend Ean Kasper for providing a hopeful and encouraging message for the family. Our appreciation extends to the United Church Ladies for the lunch.
