It's a long list when thinking of fond memories of Uncle Aub, the real question is where to begin. I'm Phil Weishaar, son of Ron Weishaar, and my uncle Aub was around quite a bit when I was young. My sister and I always adored him. He had a great sense of humor and knew how to have fun with us, probably cause he was kind of just a big kid himself. Full of jokes, magic tricks, puzzles, and pranks. He used to have us believing that there was a ghost living in his room. And that it was the reason he slept on the couch. It was a very hot room and he would say the heat was its presence. So convincing, that when he offered us 20 bucks to go in and flick on the light, we swiftly denied. I will remember going to the movies with him, or at least untill smoking was banned in theatres lol, his card tricks and his rubber thumb. He sure liked to have a laugh. I used to build model cars and such with my uncle Mel, so one day I asked Aub to build one with me, he said "if we build anything it will have to have explosives attached to it." So we built a model rocket, and when putting the parachute together he said "forget it. We don't need a parachute, cause we aren't gonna find it anyway after we launch it from my apartment balcony over deerfoot trail". He was right! I enjoyed our sumer camping at french bay, he would always play that a bear was coming out to get us, had to love the irony when he and my sister Jennifer did encounter a bear lol. Oh and yes, he's good at scaring everyone else but he's a little jumpy himself, and trying to startle him was a good way to get yourself knocked out lol. You almost got me, lucky i was quick lol. You taught me to drive for the first time... and like i said, the list is long and i could go on. You know , I was fortunenate enough to have a long and fairly heart felt chat recently with him and im so very thankful for that. So until we meet again for some more laughs and good times, say hello to Tanner, Mel and Grandma for me. Fairwell Uncle Aub.. You are dearly loved and will be dearly missed

I was 13 or so when Aub met my sister Laurel and I had a bit of a crush on him. He had lived in Vancouver (which seemed unbelievably sophisticated to 13 year old me) and had a poster of the city skyline. I fell in love with Vancouver before I ever came here because of Aub.
Most people in Vancouver are from somewhere else and everyone likes to share the story about why they came here. Aub had no idea how many times over the years, I have told the story about him, my crush and his poster of Vancouver. He had a very significant effect on my life.
Thanks Aub, RIP - Patricia O'Connor

Oh My, I still have not come to the real gripp that this has happened to you my dear friend Aubrey. I remember Saskatoon going to my brother Jim's wedding and we were running late. You in your tailed tux"Best Man" and you were already late for the real ride with the rest of the best men-- Gord, Eric and I with you in tow -"get you to the church on time" was our mission and you just had to stop for a 6pak on the way to the wedding and then we got held up by a train on the way to the church. Wasn't the bride or the groom late for the wedding it was Aubrey. Wow!! It was all good though it was Aubrey--he had a charm about him that never ended. You will be missed my friend. Ross and Landon remember the majic tricks that you used to do for them all the time you were around. You were always such a happy company to have around. So sorry Rita, Ron, Cal, and Dave. Please know that on behalf of myself and my children Ross, Landon and Amanda plus Sis Kari we are all very saddened by the loss of Aubrey. Our thoughts and love go to all of you folks at this very tough time. Charmaine

I have a lot of wonderful memories of Aubrey, my first love. He was a very kind and funny man. I am sad to hear that he is gone. One of the things I loved about Aubrey was his sense of humor. He just loved to pull pranks on people, lot's of times these pranks were on me.
One Sunday we were parked in Dick Weishaar's backyard doing what we usually did on Sundays, with no money and nothing to do, look for spare parts and fix Aubrey's work in progress 50's something truck. I am sure you remember that truck, primed, with the wood console that Aub built and installed, no door or window handle on the passenger side, lots of rust.
Anyway Aub was out poking through the long grass in the yard looking for some truck part or maybe one of Dick's tools. I was sitting in the passengers side of the truck with my feet up on the dash. I was about 16 and Aub was not much older. All of a sudden I noticed that Aubrey was squatting down in the grass poking at something with a long stick, then he started to jump around like something was moving in the grass. Then he stood up and came running full tilt towards the window on my side that was half down, with what really looked like a large snake bouncing on the end of this stick. I could not believe he was actually going to do it, but he threw this thing in the window of the truck and straight on to my lap. If there is anything I am terrified of it is snakes and of course he knew this. I did not stop to look just made a mad dash screaming as a went, crawling over the console to get out the drivers side door. Well of course it was a rubber snake. But that did not stop me from screaming a little more tears running down my face, walking home and refusing to talk to him while he followed me in that truck. Of course he made it up to me.
We did a lot of growing up over the 7 years we were together. Cal, Dave, Rita and Ron I am so sorry for your loss and I am thinking about you all

My condolences to the Weishaar family. I will always remember Aub for his talent to make or fix anything. I can still see him walking to his old 55 car that he was fixing up. He will be missed.
