Obituary of Freda Whitfield

Freda Whitfield of Marwayne, Alberta passed away at her home on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the age of 92. Freda was born October 17, 1919 in Montgomeryshire, North Wales to Thomas and Margaret Edwards. She was the only daughter, and the youngest of four children. She was a war bride, moving to Canada soon after her marriage to Ron Whitfield in Pontrobert Wales on July 4, 1945. Freda's life revolved around her family, her home, and the farm. Freda will be sadly missed by her four children: Peggy Morrison of Edmonton, Pam (Merv) Lea-Wilson of Red Deer, Peter (Cheryl) Whitfield of Marwayne, and Pat Whitfield of Lloydminster; six grandchildren: Darcy (Jess) Morrison, Kyle Morrison, Stacey Shapka, Jennifer Shapka, Blair Whitfield, and Evan Whitfield; brother-in-law Morris (Avery) Whitfield as well as numerous other relatives. The funeral service was conducted frm Marwayne Alliance Church on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Bob Aldrich officiating. The eulogy was given by Merv Lea-Wilson. The soloist was Sheryl George accompanied by Jean Bowman on the piano. The Honorary Pallbearers were everyone in attendance. The Active Pallbearers were Freda's six grandchildren. Interment followed at the Marwayne Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd. Of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.
