Obituary of William Block

BLOCK ~ William "Bud" Daniel Block passed away peacefully in the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Lloydminster, Alberta on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Bud will be sadly missed by his wife Mary; two brothers: Leonard Block of Lloydminster, Edward Block of Stavely, Alberta; three sisters: Florence Nordquist of Edmonton, Mary Vert of Edson, Irene Stewart of Didsbury as well as numerous other relatives. The funeral service was conducted from the Paradise Valley Community Hall, Paradise Valley, Alberta on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Canon Michael Stonhouse officiating. I would like to thank Merle Burlet and David Brassington for doing the eulogy, the organist Bev Haydu, Barb and Merle for their duet, and the pallbearers Paul Harrison, Elwyn Jones, Jim Knutson, Cliff James, Gregory Nordquist and Clifford Vert. Thank you to the Paradise Valley United Church Ladies and community for the wonderful lunch, the staff of the Dr. Cooke Nursing Home and Dr. Chan for their wonderful care they gave to Bud. Thanks to Barb Viel for looking after Bud and I over the years and to Barb Viel and Judy Harrison for making the arrangements for Bud's service. A special thanks to Dave McCaw, Glenn McCaw and Don Whiting of McCaw Funeral Service Ltd. for administering the funeral arrangements. The interment was held in the Paradise Valley Cemetery. To all our family and friends thanks for your thoughtfulness. Bud will be remembered as a big man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. In lieu of personal thank-you's a donation will be made to the Paradise Valley Fire Department.
