At Mom's request there was "no service, just a few words from the family" held - due to inclement weather - in the Legion Hall, Marwayne.
Internment followed at the Tring Cemetery.
A very touching eulogy was given by a long time family friend (one of the 'adopted' family) Dan Rooks of Hinton, Alberta, a wonderful tribute was co-authored and read by her Grandchildren - Tracy Hoyt & Morrey Heathcote and a special poem to "Gramma and Grandpa" was authored and read by great-granddaughter Courtney Heathcote. Others spoke of how Mom had affected their lives, and it was apparent that she had touched the hearts of many.
The family would like to thank Linda for supplying the coffee, and Art, Lois, Lori-Anne, Faye, Theresa and many others who helped us through the hurdles in an unexpected chain of events. Special thanks to Dan and Margaret Rooks, who traveled many miles in poor weather to be with us.
There are many family members and friends who did allot for Mom but special thanks must be given to Tracy and Susan for their special care of Mom, the Rooks family and Marie Williams who came to visit her so often and to Morrey and Michele who did so much to help prepare for her final memorial.
To all of you who sent cards, flowers and came to express your condolences and help celebrate Mom's life, you're forever in our hearts.
Also thank you to the wonderful people at the Islay Care Centre who made Mom's last days more comfortable and McCaw Funeral Service, especially Dale and Heather, for your compassion and efficiency.
