Obituary of Elsie Johnson

JOHNSON: Elsie Marjorie Johnson passed away in the Riverside Health Complex on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the age of 89.
Elsie is survived by: three children: Blake (Dorothy) Johnson, Colleen (Cal) Cottom, Peggy (Henry) Wooff; nine grandchildren: Travis Johnson, Jana (Mike) Olson, Merle (Carlana) Johnson, Tammy (Darren) Dyck, Blake (Tanya) Johnson, Carma (Stan) Friesen, Blair Wooff, Jennie (Bryan) Ward, Jill (Tyler) Wooff; Six great grandchildren: Jessica Olson, Sarah Jane Olson, Tany Ulilm, Bowie Ulilm, Luke Dyck, Carson Friesen; seven brothers and sisters: Charlie (Margaret) Macnab, Allan (Louise) Macnab, Ellen McIvor, Jean (Siguard) Bue, Betty Macnab, Pat Olson, Margaret Miners; sister-in-law June Macnab and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elsie was predeceased by: her husband Merle Johnson in 1978, son Dale in 1960, infant daughter in 1950, sisters May Gorling and Chrissie Ashton, brother Gordon Macnab, brothers-in-law Cliff Gorling, Clayton Ashton, Bill Miners, Leo Olson and Don McIvor; nephews: Glen Macnab and Greg Macnab.
The funeral service for Elsie was conducted from the Mervin United Anglican Church on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Pat Ribey officiating.
Tammy Iverson sang two solos "Amazing Grace," and "On Eagle's Wings."
Hymns sung were "How Great Thou Art," "It Is No Secret," and "Softly and Tenderly," accompanied on the organ by Noreen Williamson.
The Mervin Community Choir was also in attendance.
Honorary pallbearers were all her family and friends.
Active pallbearers were her nine grandchildren listed above.
Interment followed in the Livelong Cemetery.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster and Turtleford administered the funeral arrangements.
Card of Thanks
The family of Elsie Johnson would like to thank all their friends and relatives who have been so thoughtful and supportive during this time. They would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the nursing home for the excellent care Elsie received. She especially loved the many activities and trips. They are also especially grateful to the many people who sat with Elsie near the end and especially to Louise Macnab who organized that. Thank you also to the Mervin AUCW for the lovely funeral lunch and all who donated to it. A special thanks to Ferne Neilsen, Dorothy Textor, Margot Heggstrom and Leslie Nordell for their thoughtfulness and effort in providing family and friends with supper following the interment.
