Obituary of Ed Springer

Springer ~ Edmund "Ed" Edmund (Ed) Springer passed away in the Lloydminster Hospital on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the age of 73 years. Ed will be sadly missed by Jean, his wife of 52 years, his daughter Jolie and granddaughter Jaimee of Lloydminster, his son Duwayne and his wife Kim and grandsons Anthony and Linden Springer of Lloydminster, daughter Barb Kelly of Calgary, brother Karl Springer of Rocanville, Saskatchewan, and sisters Edith Greening of Moosimin, Saskatchewan and Lucy Hintz and Alma Werner of Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. Ed was predeceased by his parents Gabriel and Hulda Springer, brothers Willie and George Springer, sisters Frieda Wushke and Heidi Springer and infant granddaughter Michelle Springer. A Family Graveside Service was held for Ed on July 13 at the Irwinville Cemetery followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Alcurve Hall. We would like to thank Carol Joy Bills (Homecare), Brenda Servold (Palliative Care), the Third Floor Hospital Staff, Dr. duPlooy and Dr. Van Der Merwe for the care, support and encouragement given to Ed, Jean and their children during the past few months. Thank you to Pastor Stiles for leading Ed's Service, to Pastor Hans Steinert for his special message about Ed, to the Fort Pitt Farm for the amazing meal, to Glenn McCaw and McCaw Funeral Service for their compassion and support, to the pallbearers for leading Ed on his final journey, to Yvette Barnett for her beautiful gift of song and to Linden and Bonnie for delivering the eulogy. To our family, friends and neighbors, thank you for everything that you have done for us over the past 4 months...taking care of the farm and the garden, bringing food and flowers to the house and hospital, and your treasured visits when Ed was at home or in care in Edmonton and Lloydminster. We are surrounded by such a wonderful circle of friends...something that Ed truly cherished.
