Eulogy by Gerald Nichols
Margaret or Peggy was born July 27, 1930 in Saskatoon SK. The only daughter of Tom and Wilma Brady. When she was eleven months old her parents and brother Tom moved to the shore of Brightsand Lake where a year later her brother Jack was born. Although the family was as a neighbor once described, Poor as church mice, Peggy spent her happiest years there as she was extremely close to her father. On August 4th , 1950 she married the love of her life Jim Nichols. They lost Jims father in October and then her beloved father in January 1951. Not a great start for a marriage. Over the next eleven years she had six children and in May of 1965 the family moved to Lloydminster where Marg was a waitress in several restaurants there and made many life long friends.
Most of the childrens friends called her Mom. Her door was always open, in-laws, step family, and anyones friend was treated like her own. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and aunty. She will be lovingly missed.
God Bless You Peggy.
Eulogy by Russel Barnes
Today we are here to celebrate the life of Peggy whom each of us will remember in our own way.
Peggys mother married Hollis Guyette in 1969. The Brady family accepted Grandpa Guyette, Lyle, Lila, and Charlie as part of their family. As Lila put it they really treated and viewed Hollis as their grandpa.
In 1985 Peggy moved to Fort Assiniboine to help her mother and Hollis through their aging years. After her mother suffered a stroke Peggy had her work cut out for her in supporting both her mother and Hollis. After her mother passed away in 1992 Peggy unconditionally stayed on to help Hollis. They were a good team Grandpa thought he was looking after Peggy when in actual fact they were looking after each other.
Her presence in that household was truly appreciated by Lila and her brothers just knowing Peggy was there to help him with meals, medication, and household chores was a relief to the Guyette family.
I speak from experience when I say the word government was usually a reason for a good argument. Most of you who knew her well will probably agree with me on that. Five years ago when Peggy became ill she moved in with Norma and Vern. That first winter grandpa also stayed with them until spring when he returned home. He later moved into the seniors lodge in Barrhead where he lived until his recent passing on November 14, 2004.Norma and Vern always kept in touch and we know Peggy continued to worry about grandpa as he also worried about her. It was mutual respect.
During her life in the Fort Peggy made many good friends. She was not only a welcome member of the Guyette family she was a valued member of the community.
As you know some are workers some are watchers, some people are takers in life some are givers. Peggy was truly a worker and a giver!
From our side of the family she will be remembered as a reliable valued family member who was truly a good loving person. We have all benefited from knowing her and having her in our lives.
Farewell Peggy
