Kate 'Kay' Marie Luchkiw was born on February 11, 1930 in North Battleford, SK. She grew up on the family farm with a wonderful mom and dad, six sisters, and two spoiled
brothers and loved them all. She left home at a young age and traveled to Lloydminster where she made a life for herself. Kay had a long career in retail at Leed's Ladies' and Men's Wear for 30 years. Kay's passion was to be with family and friends. She loved to do for others! Everything she did had a purpose and it was to help others so they would have easier lives. Kay loved her apartment at Knox Manor and all the wonderful friends she made since 1997. She was always up for a game of crib and came out a winner more often than not. She (Nana) constantly baked for her great-grandchildren and she loved to make jam, jelly, and perogies. From traveling to BC to spend Christmas with family, to enjoying long summer days at Loon Lake - as long as Nana was with family, her life was fulfilled. Kay was - the best mom, the greatest Nana, a loving sister, a wonderful lady, a great friend, a hard worker, a fabulous cook, lots of fun, up for adventure, and dearly loved by all who had the pleasure to know her. Her humor and stories will keep us smiling. Nana, your family and friends will miss you dearly and thanks for the wonderful memories!
A 'Celebration of Life" was held for Kay at the Lloydminster Legacy Center on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11:30 am with Pastor Eric Persson officiating. Family Tributes were given by grandson Talayne Simon, niece Judy McNabb, and grandson Donovan Youngman. Special Music: Color Everywhere; You Were Loved; It's A Wonderful World.
Kay's ashes will be placed with her parents at a later date in North Battleford, SK. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd. of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the service arrangements.
