B I O G R A P H Y OSTER: Leonard (Len) Alois Joseph passed away in the Lloydminster Hospital on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at the age of 62 years. Len is survived by: his loving wife, Ruby Oster; three children: Brent Oster; Trent Oster, his wife Catherine and their daughter Annabella, Lana Oster-Van Male and her husband Trevor; Len’s Mother Helena and her husband Ambrose Schaan; eight siblings and their families: Nobert and Linda Oster, Nick and Karen Oster, David and Jane Oster, Bernie and Vera Oster, Linda Larre, Jaquie and Ed Mysko, Barbara and Harold Slack, and Margaret and Ed Nelson. As well as 22 nieces and nephews and their children. Len was predeceased by his father, Alois, and his brother-in-law, Charlie Larre. Len was born in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan, and grew up on the family farm south of St. Walburg (which his brother Norbert still owns). Len and Ruby enjoyed visiting the farm often, and their kids always enjoyed sledding and building snow forts there. Recently Len enjoyed playing hooky to visit the farm for Saturday lunch. Len will be remembered for his dedication and hard work in the oil patch as a welder, construction manager, and as a consultant (perhaps for some of his practical jokes). He was always dedicated to his work and looked after his family very well. Len was also active in the community, working with the Mt. Joy Ski Hill as a volunteer, building their snowmaking system, and teaching his kids to ski on those slopes. The funeral service for Len was held at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Lloydminster, Alberta on Friday, December 2, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. with Father Jan Sobkowicz officiating. Leader of songs was Marlene Risling, accompanied on the organ by Donna Weston. Pallbearers were: Jed Oster, Travis Oster, Brian Duriez, Randy Duriez, Barry Moellmann, and Wayne Yeoman. Honorary pallbearers were all the kind people in attendance. A private family interment followed in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements. The family would like to extend thanks to: Dr. Chan, Dr. Abbasi, and the nurse that cared for Len in the hospital; to all those who attended the funeral service and the luncheon afterward and shared their memories and offered condolences; to the Southminster Ladies for their great food at the luncheon; to all the kind people who sent the family flowers, cards, gifts, and food along with their support for the family; to the people who helped with the service: our soloist Marlene Risling, our organist Donna Weston, Father Jan Sobkowicz for officiating; and for Dale, Glenn and Dave McCaw for providing a caring and superb service, helping us through this difficult time. Ruby, Brent, Trent, Catherine, Annabella, Lana and Trevor Donations in memory of Len may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation.
