It is with the deepest of sorrow that I learned of this news tonight, of the passing of a person I'd call a true friend. It came in the form of a call from a good friend that knew Dave as well, and we were both at a loss for words (too say the least), at the loss of a man that we both have pleasant memories of, and was so vibrant and dynamic to be around. Why neither of us learned of this saddening news before this, after the day of his funeral, is even harder to take. I'd have been there, guaranteed ... I first came to know Dave in the Edam oilfield (Lloydminster area), and a friendship came to evolve over the next 11-12 years. I can remember having himself and his beloved Paige over for Thanksgiving supper and one or two Christmas dinners during our families' time in Lloyd, helping with moving himself into his first "real" house he'd ever purchased , and many more memories of a truly devoted Dad ... a person very full of life. Other memories of Dave are his "rig push by 20, consultant by 25, in Calgary by 35" motto that he'd declared shortly after our first meeting. He later would recant the Calgary ambitions, as that would've made him slow down and follow an existence that didn't involve the quick pace he'd so mastered. An employee of mine once nicknamed him Dave "nickel and dimer", as he was always challenging costs, hours billed, ect. - as Dave demanded the same performance out of those around him. It was also mostly in jest, but any that didn't know him were challenged to defend their viability for future services! What to say now ... I'm at a loss. Betty I knew in passing (as we met once or twice) - the rest of your family are strangers, regretfully. The one way I can empathize with you all is, your son/brother/family member/friend was not a stranger to me in the least - he was a treasured friend whom I now extremely regret losing touch with over the last few years. Please accept our deepest and most profound condolences on your loss.

I was very sad to hear of the passing of a Macoun School classmate. Though time and distance have meant losing touch with many of "the old gang", David's passing has reminded me of the great times we all shared... playing floor hockey and taking school trips to Cypress Hills, Moose Mountain in the winter to ski-doo and end of the school year trips to Regina. I can still picture David's face in the photograpgh taken at the legislative building in Regina. Let's just say he would have rather not been there! (I might add -like most of the others in the picture too.) David will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
