Auntie Ethel will be remembered with great love and admiration. She showed a true pioneering spirit as she set sail for Canada as a War Bride to start married life with her new husband Eddie, leaving England behind. My dad (Richard Albert Tume) was Auntie Ethel's youngest brother and he and my grandparents (Walter and Lucy Elizabeth Tume) often recounted the day they said goodbye on the dockside as her ship departed. Through her life and actions Auntie Ethel demonstrated that we should always be positive; retain a sense of humour; and live life to the full. Over the years her letters to us painted a vivid picture of Marsden as a wonderful, caring community; and how much she loved being a part of it. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all those who befriended and supported Auntie Ethel and especially to those at Cut Knife who ensured that her final years were so pleasant and calm. May Auntie Ethel now finally rest in peace, reunited with Eddie. Carol, Dennis, Helen, Sarah and Alice

Auntie Ethel, my dad's sister, was always in our thoughts and will be greatly missed by all her family in England. It is wonderful to know that she had deep and lasting friendships with everyone in the comunnity of Marsden and I know that she considered Canada as her true home and not England. Thank you all so much for the care and help she received from all her friends and care staff in her final years. We all miss her and hope all goes well at the funeral today. Ethel was a favourite aunt and we have fond memories of our visit in the year 2000. She was blessed with good kind and caring friends and I know she will be missed by many. Our thanks to all in Marsden for their friendship and our thanks to all the loving staff and residents in Cutknife who cared for her in recent years. May she rest in peace with her beloved Eddie.
