A Tribute to the Life of Gordon BLAKE
John Gordon Blake passed away peacefully in the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Center, Lloydminser, Alberta on Sunday, June 11, 2006 at the age of 93 years.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alice of Lloydminster; son Ron of Lloydminster; son Eric and his wife, Linda of Kitscoty, AB; daughter Barb and her husband Tom McCorkle of Berwyn, AB; daughter Bev and her husband Garth Green of Okotoks, AB; nine grandchildren and three great grandsons; brother-in-law, Alex Johnston; cousins, nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his mother and father; infant sister Kathleen; brother Eric; and sister Mildred Johnston; brother-in-law Tony Anthony and nephew Gordy Johnston.
The funeral service for Gordon was conducted from St. Johns Anglican Church, Lloydminster, on Friday, June 16, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. with Canon David Turvey officiating. Long time friend, Reverend Chuck Mortimer read the eulogy prepared by the family. Granddaughter Lisa Green read a passage from the Bible. Hymns sung were How Great Thou Art, Amazing Grace, and O Jesus I Have Promised accompanied on the organ by Pat Skinner with St. Johns Anglican Church Choir in attendance.
Active pallbearers were grandchildren: Doug Blake, Kerri Caco, Brent Blake, Treena Blake, Kristy Blake, Lisa Green, Brad Green, Becky McCorkle and Tyler McCorkle.
After lunch in the Church Hall interment took place in Kitscoty Cemetery.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements.
As a family we were blessed to have shared Gramps life. The respect, patience, kindness, generosity and love that guided his life was an inspiration and will always be a part of who we are. He lived according to his beliefs and left us in his same gentle and peaceful way.

We the family would like to thank Dr. Cavanagh, nurses and staff of the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Facility. Thanks to Canon David Turvey, Reverend Chuck Mortimer, organist Pat Skinner and choir of St. Johns Anglican Church, and Lisa for their part in the service.
Thank you to the pallbearers, ACW ladies for preparing and serving the tasty lunch; also thank you for all the flowers, donations and cards received in memory of Gordon. A heartfelt thanks for the gifts of food brought to the house, phone calls, and visits from friends.
Thank you to Dale McCaw and Staff for their professional, thoughtful and caring manner at this difficult time.
